The carbon intensity of Hungary's power sector has been on a mostly downward trend since the beginning of the century. In 2022, Hungary's power sector emissions amounted to nearly 223 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour (gCO₂/KWh) of electricity generated, the lowest level since the year 2000. This figure represented a decrease of roughly 48 percent in comparison to the century-peak recorded in 2003.
