Change in mortality of skin cancer forecast in the EU 2020-2040
It was estimated that between 2020 and 2040, the incidence of melanoma skin cancer deaths in Ireland would increase by over 80 percent. An increase of over 80 percent was also forecast in Malta, although the small population in the country is a reason behind the large relative change in mortality. The increase across the European Union overall was estimated to be around 29 percent, while Latvia was forecast to have an increase of 8.7 percent in deaths from melanoma of the skin by 2040.
