In the 2021 financial year in Australia, over 28 percent of the population aged between 16 and 85 years had experienced an anxiety disorder at some point in their lifetime. Mental disorders are broadly classified by the source into lifetime mental disorders, referring to people who had experienced a mental disorder at some point during their life, and 12-month mental disorders, when people had sufficient symptoms of a disorder in the 12 months prior to the survey.
