Six Nations: countries with most Grand Slams 2023

Since Italy joined the competition in 2000, the national rugby union teams with the most Six Nations Championship Grand Slams were Wales and France, with both countries tied at four titles. Meanwhile, during the Five Nations Championship eras, which came between 1910 and 1931, as well as 1947 and 1999, England had the most Grand Slams, having won 11. A Grand Slam is when a team beats every other team in the competition on its way to a championship title, which, in the case of the Six Nations, means winning five out of five matches.

The Six Nations Championship began in 1883 as the Home International Championship, with only England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland competing. France joined in 1910, ushering in the Five Nations era. However, it was ousted in 1931 before rejoining in 1947. Italy entered the competition in 2000. The competition has been called the Six Nations ever since.
