Level of water stress in Ghana 2020, by economic activity
The level of water stress in Ghana was lowest in the industry sector as of 2020, with 0.41 percent. Although freshwater withdrawal as a share of freshwater resources in the other sectors presented higher values, the latter was considerably lower than 25 percent. According to the indicator, a freshwater withdrawal of 25 percent or more of the renewable freshwater resources presents a water stress situation. Consequently, the presence of high levels of water stress has adverse effects on economic development and food security.
