GHG emissions from the most polluting assets in India 2022, by source
The RPL Jamnagar crude oil refinery in Gujarat was the highest-emitting physical asset in India in 2022, with estimated emissions of 32 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). The Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station in Madhya Pradesh followed, having emitted 25 MtCO₂e. The Vindhyachi STPS is the largest power plant in India, and one of the most polluting power plants worldwide.
