Diverted forest land for non-forestry India FY 2009-2023, by use

Over 58 thousand hectares of forest land was diverted for mining in India between financial years 2009 and 2023. Roads and irrigation ranked second and third in that time period, respectively. Among its states, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh accounted for the largest share forest conversion over the last decade in the country.
