Participation rate in the General Elections in Peru 2006-2021
The participation during the General Elections in Peru in 2021 was the lowest registered figure, at least, since 2006. The general dissatisfaction of voters is clearly visible during the last four elections, going from 88.71 percent to 70.05 percent voter turnout. This becomes more relevant considering that voting in Peru from ages 18 to 70 is mandatory and the decision not to vote comes with possible monetary fines.
