Since the competition’s foundation in 2001, originally as the UEFA Women’s Cup, Olympique Lyonnais has won the Women’s Champions League on eight occasions, more than any other team. This total includes an incredible run of five consecutive titles between 2015 and 2020. Unsurprisingly, the two players that were there for all of Lyon’s successes are also the players with the most Women’s Champions League titles: Wendie Renard and Eugénie Le Sommer. Meanwhile, the player with the most goals scored in the UWCL also plays for Lyon: as of September 2022, Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg had scored a record 59 goals in the competition.
