APAC: female and male enrollment rate for secondary education by country

In 2022, the gross enrollment rate for secondary education in New Zealand stood at over 100 percent for both girls and boys in the relevant age group. That same year, the lower secondary enrollment rate in Laos amounted to approximately 56 percent among girls and about 58 percent among boys.

Gross enrollment ratios indicate the capacity of each level of the education system, but a high ratio may reflect a substantial number of overage children enrolled in each grade because of repetition or late entry rather than a successful education system."
