Compulsory school age population size APAC 2011-2019, by subregion
In 2019, the number of children in the compulsory school age group in South Asia amounted to over 290 million, indicating an increase of approximately ten million since 2011. The East Asia and Pacific region also recorded an increase of the compulsory school-age population in the same time period, albeit on a smaller scale, growing by a little over three million.
