Selected reasons why U.S. adults considered purchasing an EV

Among U.S. respondents who were at least somewhat likely to consider purchasing an electric vehicle as of May 2022, 73 percent reported helping the environment as a major reason to consider this purchase. Furthermore, 71 percent reported saving money on gas was an incentive for EV purchase. In contrast, keeping up with the latest trends in vehicles was not among the reasons most participants considered buying an electric vehicle.
