Portugal: cheapest online supermarkets, by index 2023

During the last four months of 2023, the cheapest online supermarkets in Portugal were Continente and Pingo Doce. They were followed by Auchan, with an increase of two percent in the shopping basket price of the cheapest supermarkets.

The price index is measured according to the shopping basket prices registered every day during the four months considered. The cheapest supermarket receives the index of 100. The remaining supermarkets receive indexes above 100, each point above that signifying an increase of one percent in the shopping basket price. In the total price, delivery costs, price discounts, and promotions are not considered. The shopping basket integrated over 200 products.To measure the price index, supermarkets with less than 70 percent of the products that integrate the shopping basket are not considered.
